zubeidaa rejects his proposal as she believes that the maharaja will not marry again. at the same time, she realises that the maharaja has been observing her stealthily. zubeidaa learns that mandira is pregnant with the maharaja's child. the maharaja too is aware of her infidelity with prince riyaz. faced with a dilemma, zubeidaa decides to return to her maternal home along with her son. however, she is forced to decide between her maternal love and that of the maharaja.
the rest of the story follows zubeidaa as she tries to reconcile her two loves. in a move that seems to be just as cruel as her past, the maharaja throws her out of his home and strips her of her title as the maharani. however, zubeidaa does not give up hope and soon begins to woo the maharaja.
zubeidaa wins the maharaja over with her love and loyalty. however, the maharaja's nephew, prince nirmal (shraddha kapoor) is unhappy with the situation. a few days later, the maharaja is deposed from his post as the prime minister. though he is soon reinstated, nirmal uses his influence to ensure that zubeidaa's name is removed from the list of court ladies. from then on, zubeidaa becomes a secluded lady.
