@foundersbrewing moving out of this house after 13 years. This was the last beer I chose to have here. Thanks for the memories you all helped me create. I'll be sure to christen my new house w/ another one of your creations. #brewedforus

We love cocktails. Like, really love them. If you ask us, few are more refreshing than the tart and tangy margarita and this barrel-aged beer pays tribute to that perennial classic. We took an imperial gose brewed with agave, lime and sea salt and then aged it in tequila barrels. Consider it a party in a bottle. Más Agave Clásica Lime!

Delightfully tart and slightly sweet, this ale is our refreshing take on an easy-drinking fruit beer. Watermelon is the highlight of this lightly-hopped treat and gives it a hint of satisfying juiciness to balance the tang and bite we love in a gose style. The soft mouthfeel and dry finish come courtesy of the addition of sea salt. Pairs well with warm days and never-ending sunshine.

Mike Stevens and Dave Engbers were homebrewing enthusiasts who had recently graduated from college.[7] The company was originally organized in 1996 as John Pannell Brewing Company;[8] Stevens and Engbers changed the company's name to Canal Street Brewing Co. in 1997.[9][10] They took that name from the historical name of the Grand Rapids street (now Monroe Avenue) where they had set up operations, in an area where several 19th-century breweries once stood. The label for their Founders Pale Ale featured a historical image of brewers from that era with the word "Founders" above it; customers took that to be the name of the company, so Engbers and Stevens adopted it for general use.[10]

Founders produces several year-round packaged beers and a variety of seasonal and limited-production beers.[19] Throughout the course of the year, Founders produces other beers sold on tap at their taprooms and beer festivals.[20]

As of 2013, two of its beers, KBS (Kentucky Breakfast Stout) and CBS (Canadian Breakfast Stout), were ranked among BeerAdvocate's top 10 beers, with CBS ranked as the 4th best beer in the world by user review.[26] In a 2013 poll, listed Founders as the 3rd best brewery in the world overall;[27] Founders was 2nd place in 2011 and 2012.[28] In April 2010, Founders won four medals at the World Beer Cup in Chicago, Illinois,[29] and the brewery went on to win two more medals at Denver's Great American Beer Festival in September of that year.[30] The brewery also won an award at the 2012 World Beer Cup in San Diego, California.[31]

Founders operates taprooms in Grand Rapids and Detroit. The original taproom in Grand Rapids is adjacent to the brewing operations, and in addition to its retail brews, offers beers that are only available on tap. The 14,000-square-foot Detroit taproom opened in 2017. It primarily serves beers made in Grand Rapids, but also has a four-barrel brewing facility that can produce about eight kegs a week, allowing it to serve other beers as well.[32]

Founders has had problems in some states with its labeling of beers. Until 2012, Dirty Bastard and Backwoods Bastard could not be sold in Alabama because of the name.[35] In 2015, the label for Breakfast Stout, featuring a small child eating oatmeal, led to regulatory problems in Michigan and New Hampshire over the depiction of a child on an alcoholic beverage, requiring a temporary change in Michigan replacing the child with a note.[35]

Any chance you will be bringing back my favorite..Double Trouble? Without any fruit flavors? Also Devil Dancer? Mosaic Promise? I really miss these good ole beers.I ask the wait staff every time I come in and they have no idea and expressed interest also in those IPAs.

According to Mahou USA, the creation of Mahou USA will allow it to compete in an ever-changing craft beer market while each company retains its character. Offerings will now include selections from the Madrid brewery that were previously unavailable in many parts of the U.S., company officials said.

Founders Brewing of Grand Rapids, Michigan has announced new majority ownership by Mahou Group and that the 2019 fall release of CBS (Canadian Breakfast Stout) will be it's last. CBS is the breweries highly sought after imperial coffee chocolate stout aged in maple bourbon barrels. Earlier in 2019, Mahou San Miguel purchased a majority ownership of Boulder, Colorado-based Avery Brewing Co. in a deal that meant Founder's Brewing beers may be brewed in Colorado.

Founders Brewing's relationship with Mahou San Miguel is not new, in 2014 the Spanish brewing company (founded in 1890 in Madrid) purchased a 30% stake in Founders. Since that time the breweries investment has paid dividends with Founder's Brewing quickly expanding to national distribution in the last few years and becoming one of the top craft breweries in the world. The news last week was that Mahou Group will be buying out all existing Founders shareholders except for the founders of the brewery, Mike Stevens and Dave Engbers. As a result, Mahou Group will become majority owners in the company with 90% stake.

The highly anticipated beer was first brewed after Brewmaster Jeremy Kosmicki stumbled upon bourbon barrels that had previously housed maple syrup. Adding the same base beer as Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS), CBS was born. Rich maple syrup, roasted coffee and velvety chocolate meld together in this barrel-aged beer to create a transcendental drinking experience.

The triple-brewed beer (ABV 10%) was brewed with organic Blue Agave nectar and Michigan honey. Rich Belgian yeast esters of banana and fruit and a sweet body round out the hazy, golden straw colored tripel. Palisade and Michigan Heritage hops balance the sweetness.

Founders Brewing Co. was started in 1996 when Grand Rapids, MI natives Mike Stevens and Dave Engbers quit their jobs and took out sizable loans to make their dreams come true. Mike and Dave wanted to make the beer that they liked -- big bodied, in-your-face ales with complex flavors, large aromatics and above all, tons of flavor. This taste for something bigger struck a chord with beer drinkers around the world and their full-flavored brews were a success. They have won six World Beer Cup medals, three European Beer Star medals and two Great American Beer Festival medals in the past decade. At Founders, their focus is to offer a product that stands alone on the shelf and offers a true drinking experience to their friends: you.

Founders is not the only one to blame here, though. The beer community is, too. The issues surrounding Great Lakes Brewing News and Trillium were (somewhat) resolved in a matter of days, thanks in large part to the whistle-blowing of the (predominantly white) beer community. Trillium raised employee wages, and Metzger resigned from his newspaper and gave up his stake in the company. 041b061a72
